Residential: With the population ever growing, there will be a need for more and more housing. A new technology will allow families to purchase a piece of land and use an app called “Build-Me” to design a house with anything they desire. The app allows you to add your own colours and whichever appliances and extra features you like. It also will give you a price point of how much it'll take to create your masterpiece. This feature can also be used for condos and apartment buildings as well.

Life on Mars 2070:

Toronto born Steven Money, the nephew of Canadian scientist Ken Money along with 15 brave volunteers (7 males and 8 females) between ages 21-29 from the Greater Toronto Area became the first group of people to inhabit life on Mars.

With air on Mars consisting of 95% CO2, Steven Money developed a device called “Breathalyzer 2050” that acts like plants that converts CO2 into O2 which gives humans the ability to breathe fresh air.

Quote from Money, “The Breathalyzer 2050 will be revolutionary and will be able to fix not only the lack of oxygen on earth but the ability to live outside of earth”

As long as the troops stays within 5 kms of this device they will be able breathe sufficient amount of oxygen (He is currently in development of making more to expand the troops territory)

Life on Mars comes with risk for radiation, the group was provided with anti-radiation suits that were also developed by Money

In terms of food and water, the group was provided with 20 years supply that will be rationed out, with also plants that can be grown and harvested by the group

A quote from Money “This will be challenging, but if we work together we will succeed”.

Climate (Harpawan)
Infrastructure (Lovepreet)
Globally, urbanization is expected to grow substantially over the next 50 years. This will lead to several changes in Toronto infrastructure by 2070, including but not limited to:

Buildings/Structures:

-Light, flexible, and adaptable infrastructure.

-Rapid construction with new, cost-effective building materials.

-Some infrastructures will be more resilient to address climate change and other infrastructure will have shorter life expectancies compared to traditional structures.

-We will transform unused rail corridors and reuse former industrial lands and factories.

-This development will be balanced with investments in parks and green space as well.

Public Transit:

-There will be faster and less congested trips with economical long-distance commuting.

-High-speed trains to and from Toronto- Go from current stations (GO Transit) and electronic fare cards (Prestos) to having platform-side door systems, automated trains/control systems and credit-card based fare systems. As well as other facilities, including coffee purchases.

-By 2070, projects like the King Street Pilot in Toronto will have been implemented. This will improve transit reliability, speed, and capacity by giving priority to streetcars over vehicles.

-Initiatives that require meeting net zero or low emissions standards will expand to Toronto.

-Automated vehicle control and driver-assisted vehicles (such as Tesla’s) will become more popular. These will also include in-vehicle technology for distance separation and collision avoidance.

-We will see greater elderly-friendly transport and transport for the physically disabled.

-The use of drone technology will expand and to accommodate this, we will see a reduction in overhead wiring in the city.

-There will be a resurgence in water transport and hence, ports will regain their importance as logistics centers, specifically, in the Great Lakes.

-As a result of these improved transportation systems, distances will shrink. We will be able to move goods, people, and information quickly, efficiently and in a cost-effective manner.

Housing/Communities:

-There will be huge impacts on urban development. By having better access to long distance commuting, we will see greater development of residential communities at smaller distances from Toronto (houses, apartments, grocery stores, schools etc.)

-However, rising house prices in Toronto, which will likely increase due to the limited space, will be a factor as well. Individuals may want to live in one city and work in another.

-Current suburbs, which are designed for families, may need to be re-engineered to accommodate the mobility needs of an aging population. For example, housing with fewer stairs.

-Commercial residences/long-term care homes for the elderly will expand dramatically.

-Homeless shelters will also increase within the city- as the population increases, there is a likelihood the homeless population will also increase, and hence, greater demand for a safe space for these individuals.

-By 2070, projects like the King Street Pilot in Toronto will have been implemented. This will improve transit reliability, speed, and capacity by giving priority to streetcars over vehicles.

-Initiatives that require meeting net zero or low emissions standards will expand to Toronto.

Life on Mars 2070:

Toronto born Steven Money, the nephew of Canadian scientist Ken Money along with 15 brave volunteers (7 males and 8 females) between ages 21-29 from the Greater Toronto Area became the first group of people to inhabit life on Mars

Climate
Infrastructure

-However, rising house prices in Toronto, which will likely increase due to the limited space in, will be a factor as well. Individuals may want to live in one city and work in another.
-Current suburbs, which are designed for families, may need to be re-engineered to accommodate the mobility needs of an aging population. For example, housing with fewer stairs.
-Commercial residences/long-term care homes for the elderly will expand dramatically.
-Homeless shelters will also increase within the city- as the population increases, there is a likelihood the homeless population will also increase, and hence, demand a safe space for these individuals.
